How Much Screen Time is Safe for Kids?

With school being what it is this year, today’s title may seem, well… futile.

No matter how much screen time is considered safe for kids, many will be exceeding that number by far this school year.

But I still believe it’s helpful to know what the “ideal” is, so that parents/grandparents/caregivers can know what to aim for as much as possible.

(If you’re not a parent/grandparent/caregiver, this is still handy knowledge for whenever you do interact with kids.)

In today’s video you’ll learn:

  • How much screen time is ideal for kids
  • Timings for little kids 0-18 months, 18-24 months, and 3-5 years
  • Timings for bigger kids 6-10 years, 11-13 years, and teens
  • Extra tips for guiding tech use in each age range

Get relevant info in today’s video here.

You’ll hear me say in the video that screen time should be used as a reward for kids.

But with so much of school being in front of screens, allowing even more time just for fun is not ideal.

Get creative this week and look for other non-digital rewards your kids can earn.

I’d love to hear what you come up with at your next visit – let’s share strategies as fellow parents!
