Common Head and Neck Problems-and How to Overcome Them

woman working with neck painFind yourself living with head and neck pain? Have you tried everything without much improvement?

We want you to know that we understand what you’re dealing with-and we’ve got something to offer you that’s entirely natural. At Mills Chiropractic & Wellness Center, we take a unique approach to each patient’s care, diving deep to uncover what’s really going on through functional medicine.

Then, we craft a care plan that meets your needs, evaluating your progress as we go. At the end of the day, we believe that your care should be as unique as you are.

Solutions for Your Pain

We welcome patients almost daily who are experiencing the following problems relating to the head and neck:

  • Whiplash: Whiplash injuries can occur whether you were in a car accident or simply moved your head and neck too quickly in everyday life. Whiplash injuries can start expressing pain right away or come on days, weeks, or even months later-by which time the injury can cause other problems in the body. We find whiplash injuries respond well to a series of focused, gentle adjustments.
  • Tech Neck: Nowadays, we all spend much more time on our phones and computers than ever before, resulting in a ‘forward head posture’-this means that our neck is having to support much more weight than it should, which weakens the muscles and spinal bones in the area. We often recommend a series of adjustments and postural exercises to restore proper balance and function to the area.
  • Headaches: Did you know that headaches can be the result of spinal misalignment? Our axis and atlas bones, located at the very top of the neck, can fall out of proper alignment and create stress near the brainstem.
  • Stress: Our bodies are built to handle stress-but experience too much of it, and things can get overwhelming in our nervous system. Stress in the head and neck can cause inflammation, tense muscles, pain, and more.
  • Computer Ergonomics: Spending all day behind a desk working on a computer? You’re not alone. Like many office workers, poor sitting posture can cause problems in the head and neck-especially if your screen is also at the wrong height, causing you to look too far downward. We can work with you to identify any current head and neck issues as a result of poor ergonomics and help you develop a plan to restore proper posture.
