5 Ways to Turn Your Brain Back ON!

As we reach the home stretch of our web series on Digital Dementia, I have FIVE tips to share with you today.

We’ve been talking a lot about how technology use affects the brain.

Quick refresher:

  • Way back at the beginning we learned that too much screen time actually dampens the good-decision-making-center of the brain (the prefrontal cortex).
  • At the same time, too much screen time also revs up the hunger-sex-anger-center of the brain (the occipital lobe).

Not a good combination.

Unfortunately, ANY type of screen time can create this toxic combo.

Even ‘harmless’ things like doing your job from your laptop, binging episodes of Friends, or spending a Saturday afternoon scrolling social media…

…it’s that extended time in front of any screen that can start to create imbalances in our brains.

(And yes, that imbalance is worsened by less-than-harmless screen time like playing violent video games, watching dark TV shows, or subjecting yourself to a continuous stream of negative media coverage.)

So, how can you correct this imbalance and turn that important part of your brain back ON again?

In today’s video, I’ve got five methods for you.

Chances are, you are already doing some of these in your normal healthy habits routine, but all of us have areas we can improve on.

Check out the video to learn what you (and/or your kids) might be missing, and catch you on the flip side!
